Born Sept. 2, 1963, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Hatfield and Elva Johnston Hatfield.She was a graduate of Sumter High School and a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Cockerill Jr. of Sumter; one daughter, Laken Wetherington (Danny) of Sumter; two sons, William "Blase" Cockerill (Jennifer) of Sumter and Tazz Cockerill (Annie) of Paxville; six grandchildren, Madisyn, Myleigh, and Merliah Cockerill, Lelynd Wetherington, Laylin and Bayleigh Cockerill; four sisters, Debbie Barrett (Randolph), Connie Cumbee (Teddy), Cathie Hatfield (Randy) and Cynthia Turner (Kevin), all of Sumter; her third shift nurse furbaby, Jax; special friends, Sandy Mays, Shelley Hopkins, Sammy and Angie Thompson; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at Lakewood Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Scarborough, Mr. Jimmy Shuping, the Rev. Kevin Howell, the Rev. Sammy Thompson, and the Rev. Ken Feturo, officiating.A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 15 South.Pallbearers will be her sisters and Curtis Johnston.Honorary pallbearers will be The Believer's Quartet family.The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Lakewood Baptist Church and other times at the home of her daughter, Laken Wetherington, 3165 Beulah Cuttino Road, Sumter.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church, 3140 Nazarene Church Road, Sumter.Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
